Also, you can ask the gate agent to see if there is a seat in an exit row available. There's usually a couple of extra inches of leg room.

But BEWARE. Do NOT get an exit row that has an exit row behind it. (On the bigger planes they usually come in 2's.) Your seat will not recline all the way.

Since I've never used FF miles before, I really appreciate the information and suggestions I've received on this thread.

To all of you who have offered advice, I can't thank you enough. I wouldn't have known I had any options without your input. As I said before, this board is great, and I am SO looking forward to meeting other Fodorites in Paris this fall!
