Seat for toddler on ES Italia
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a seat for a child under 4 on ES Italia trains? I realize that my 22 month-old son would be free, but we'll be traveling Venice-Rome and would really prefer to get a seat for him. I'm hoping we might be able to pay just the reservation fee, but I wasn't able to find anything about this. Otherwise, we'll likely just buy him a kids ticket (which is not that much more).
Thanks, Paul |
Yes toddlers go free if they don't occupy their own seat - a general rule of European railways
to get a seat you must book a seat - child's rate in this case of course the train could not be full then you could relocated perhaps to two empty seats. no pay no seat that's my take |
topping for someone who knows the explicit rules of trenitalia

That's what I had figured. I guess I was thinking that maybe he would get a free ticket instead of no ticket and then could pay the reservation fee/"passholders" fare. The difference in cost is small enough (EUR10-15) that I'll likely just buy a kid's ticket. (We'll be traveling on a Sat morning and they be 4 adults + my son, so moving to empty seats won't likely work.)

Again keep topping till someone familiar with trenitalia policy as i was referring to a rather universal policy in general of European trains.
ESItalia trains probably same but not sure |
