Searching...
Will be spending about a week in Paris mid-December and searching for a 'gite' for three adults...perhaps in the Marais area or somewhere else off the beaten path within the city. Can anyone suggest sources? And/or give us an idea of what to expect in costs so budget can be worked out?
Thanking you all in advance. This is really a great feature of fodor's website and I really appreciate all the responses. Sincerely, Al O. |
Al - As you're new to Fodors, just a little tip:
You won't get any useful responses unless you post WITH A CLEAR TITLE. As you're searching for a 'gite in Paris (Marais?' ... why don't you post that in the title? That way people who are knowlegable about that area will see it and reply. Steve |
Hi alfmoody. I'm sorry I can't help you directly with your question.
But if you repost this question with the location of your search in the title of the post the experts here will be more likely to respond. I too was new recently and have learned many helpful things here. Good Luck :) |
A gite is generally a country cottage. Do you mean you're searching for a city apartment ?

Hi
we really are trying to help, but I too think of gites being cottages or b&b arrangements in the countryside. If it's an apartment you want, there are agencies, and you can request a particular location. Here are some agencies that have been recommended here and elsewhere, this is a compiled list so I haven't checked the websites myself www.france-apartment.com guide to apartment agency websites www.rentoparis.com www.albany.net/~nracnyfr/parisapt.html www.apartmenthotels.com/ www.apartments-in-paris.com/index.htm www.britishtravel.com/britishtravel/parisfla.htm www.choice1.com/index.htm www.citadines.com Citadines residences www.europalet.com www.halliger.com/parisr.htm www.homerental.fr/ www.interhome.com www.locaflat.com less expensive than some, "clean but simple apartments" www.londonconnection.com www.myflatinparis.com/ www.parislodging.fr/ www.parisnet.net/short.html www.paris-sleeps.com recommended by a Fodor?s poster www.PSRyourhomeinParis.com www.psrparis.com www.qconline.com/psr www.rentparis.com recommended on Fodor's forum May 02 www.untours.com www.vacationinparis.com www.villasintl.com Chez Vous, based in the US in California phone 415 331 2535 fax 415 331 5296 recommended in Gourmet magazine and on the Fodor?s discussion board www.chezvous.com Paris Sejour Reservations, recommended on Fodor?s forum, offer studio to 3-bedroom flats. Also try www.cheznous.com which is a British organisation with literally thousands and thousands of properties of all kinds available to rent in France. Most are owned by British people either living in the UK (as a holiday home) or living in France.
You can generally speak with the owners by phone or contact them by email and, having used this organisation repeatedly having nothing but good to report. Dr D. |
Thank you all for the guidance and good information. Yes, it's an apartment we're actually looking for and I thought gite was the word describing it.
I am learning much from this website and now appreciate the importance of the title statement. Thank you all. A la prochaine. |
Hi,
If you're interested in an apartment, I would highly recommend you check out www.cigaleparis.com. The American owner has 2 apartments. We've rented the smaller one and it was great! I just posted a similar response to a similar questions, but no, I am not the owner -- just a "renter." |
Topping for myself... seems my own list of bookmarks was inadvertently deleted from my mac.... and Elaine compiled such a great list.
