Seaplane service
 

Has anyone flown the new seaplane service by European Coastal Airlines? I am considering them instead of a ferry/cat from Split to Hvar this September.

With 2 1/2 hrs between Split and Hvar town slower than the catamaran (1 1/2 hrs), but certainly feasible.

I would also like to know more about this service. I saw it mentioned in marketing material that they would be expanding their service, but am having trouble finding any specific flights from Split to the Istrian area. Will there be a route connecting Dalmatia with Istria?

@neckervd: Relating to your response to the original question, I did see a route from Split to Hvar. The flight looked inexpensive a short. Are you suggesting that the trip is so long because you have to take a shuttle bus from Split to Split airport and another long shuttle ride from the Hvar seaplane terminal to Hvar town?

@genenance: I noticed a flight from Split to Pula offered this spring, but none shown after 3/31/15. I have emailed the company to see if it will be offered this fall as I would be interested in that route as well.

@neckervd: I understand that the flight goes to Jelsa on Hvar and then a shuttle to Hvar Town. For the dates that I am looking at the 13 minute flight would land at Jelsa at 16:13 and the shuttle leaves 17 minutes later making the full trip 1 hr.

I was just curious if this was a valid option and was hopeful to find someone who has used the service.

Service for Pula is still being discussed, an issue with the landing dock has yet to be resolved.

I noticed that ECA's online reservation system now allows me to book a flight from Split to Pula in early May. Does anyone know if they resolved their Pula landing dock issues and now have a clear go-ahead for this route? I don't see any announcements to that effect.

Thanks for the update! We are still considering using ECA for our trip in September. I would rather a 67 minute flight from Split to Pula vs a 5+ hour car ride.

I just watched a flight take off from Split on the webcam.
