Seajet boats - has anyone been on one of these?

Hello fellow Fodorites!

The trip to Mykonos is slowly being built! The townhome has been secured (in Ornos). The flight from Athens to Mykonos has been purchased (there were only 4 seats left...now only one!). The hotel room in Athens at the end of the trip has yet to be booked, but I'm not too worried about that yet. The flight from the U.S. has not been booked yet - but it will be in a few weeks (tax refund will help out nicely with that).

Ok, with the major blocks of this trip in their various stage, I've now begun to think about what to do while there. One of the things I have been giving consideration to is a day trip to Naxos. There's a boat that leaves at 9:55a and gets in at 10:30a. Looking at the online boat schedule, there's a fleet of boats called Seajet with a few different size boats. The one that goes from Mykonos to Naxos is the Seajet Masterjet. I know what the boat looks like...what I want to know is what does it look like on the inside? I've searched the net for pictures and haven't found anything. Has anyone been on one of these? Can you get up and walk around while the boat is traveling or are the seats like airplane seats? Any information is appreciated. Thanks!

The seats are like airplane seats. You can walk to the bar and to the toilets.
Some catamarans have even a few open air seats at the back of the upper deck. If this is the case, you can walk up to them.

The best excursion from Mykonos is the boat trip to Delos, the only reason to visit Mykonos for many people.

Naxos is the complete contrary of Mykonos: it's neither mega touristy nor crowded and Greeks are in the majority even in high season.

One thing I will caution you about: When the seas are rough the catamaran ferries bob in the water like corks and many people get seasick. Wait until you're there to decide whether or not to go to Naxos for the day.

Masterjet is bigger than Superjet and SeaJet2, and yes you can get up and walk around inside the cabin. It's over 20 years old now, but you will be on board for only about a half-hour. I've never seen any interior shots either, but there are lots of exterior shots here, including some from when it was under different ownership: http://www.marinetraffic.com/en/phot...e:MASTER%20JET

Hello all! Thank you for the replies.

@neckervd - the excursion to Delos is one thing I am thinking about. There's also a day trip to Tinos as well.

@brotherleelove2004 - that thought had crossed my mind as well, so I'll just have to keep up to date on what the weather / seas will be like during my stay in Mykonos.

@Heimdall - yeah, I've seen plenty of outer pictures of the boat, just trying to find some inside shots.

Thanks!

I have used several times the Seajet from Rafina to Mykonos and vv.
Being a local i always knew how the seas are and never had a problem with that plus i am living not far away from Rafina.
( and the airport)
Seajet is very fast,it covers the distance from Rafina to Mykonos in only 2 hours and the trip was always pleasant.
Didn't feel the urge to walk or do anything else than reading a book.

Just as a sidenote Ryan Air will start connecting Athens with a few Greek airports plus a couple of cities outside Greece.
They will start flying in April i think and they offer now very competitive fares :)
