Scuba diving in Costa Brava

Hello Fodorites,

Is Costa Brava closest destination from Barcelona for scuba diving ? Me and my son both first time divers are looking to experience one during our upcoming visit to Spain. May I ask you folks to recommend first, place closest to Barcelona (we are there for 5 nights in end of May'19) ? And secondly, any recommended agency to go with ?

Thanks for your time and any feedback.

Regards

You need to check requirements for scuba diving in Spain. Last time I looked you needed an official health certificate before you could dive. I wanted to give my son a dive off La Palma for his birthday a few years back but in the end he didn't do it because of the cost of the health certificate.

Thanks for the reply heismij2. I missed out the eligibility/requirements for scuba diving completely!

Scuba Diving on the Coast Brava

There are many diving centers and schools along the Costa Brava. There is a dive center in Begur you might want to check with, Begur Dive (https://www.begurdive.com). If you are do not have a certificate, and don't want to take a course, you can always go snorkeling.
