Scotland with 2 adults and 2 kids
 

Hi, <BR>I have been reading the posts so far and hoped you could help. My family will be travelling to Glasgow and the west coast of Scotland for 8 days in late May. The girls are 7 and 10. What would be the best type of accomodation for a family of 4 in Glasgow? We are leaning toward B&B's. <BR>Thank you <BR>Sylvia McAllister

Sylvia <BR> <BR>You know your kids; but for economy and "homeliness" I would have though B & Bs. <BR> <BR>No shortage on the west coast. <BR> <BR>Anything else we might help with, pease ask

B&B is a good idea for a family.Best area for you is arguably the west end - frequent fast underground & bus links to the city centre for trains north to Oban, Mallaig, Kyle (for Skye) (Queen St. station) or south to Ayrshire, also has Kelvingrove Park, G Uni & Kelvingrove Art Galleries - between them they make a very pretty walk. <BR> There are sites full of B&Bs - if you post a few alternatives in Glasgow I can tell you what the street/area is like. <BR> Late May is just before things get busy - schools are still in.(I will be in Soth Uist then!)

If you will be there saturday to saturday, I would consider a self-catering accomodation and make day trips. That's what we did - stayed in Callendar. It is at least 1/2 the cost of staying in 2 rooms in a B&B and a lot less hassle. <BR> <BR>If you do go the B&B route, look for ones that have 'family rooms' - generally a double bed and two twins. Less than 2 rooms.

If you're going in the summer when the uni's are out then you can get cheap,self catering flats in their halls of residences to rent. Strathclyde uni's halls are all based in the 'campus village' in the city centre, glasgows tend to be scattered about the west end and some are a fair distance from anywhere.
