Scotland under $100/night

First of all, thanks to those who have posted Scotland information..Sheila and Tony especially. I have been planning a trip for November. Bought the tickets, figured out the scope of the trip, now trying to come up with some hotels.

The parameters of the trip are going to be (roughly) Aberfeldy to the north, Glasgow to the west, the North Sea to the east and Hadrian's Wall to the south.

We decided we'd like to keep the accomodations under $100 U.S. Dollars per night or under about 60 pounds per night.

We'd like an inn or B&B with 5-10 rooms. Don't feel comfortable in someone's house with one or two rooms to let...don't want to stay in anything that resembles a chain or big hotel.

Can anyone make any recommendations?

Thanks for your help! And I'm really excited about visiting Scotland!!!

Nancy

I'm sorry I'm off tonight myself for 2 whole weeks in sunny Greece. i don't have time to think about this properly. Here are some suggestions to be going on with. I haven't checked the Tariffs but expect them to be roughly where you want them. And remember to negotiate. These guys will often come down from the rack rate

E-mail if it can wait till after 8th Sept.

Craw's Nest Anstruther
Tormaulkin, Gleneagles
Ailean Craggan, Weem, Aberfeldy
Moulin Inn, Moulin Pitlochry
Bein Inn, Glenfarg, Perth
Ailean craggan, Weem, Aberfeldy
Near Hadrians's wall, try staying in Haltwhistle. I can enthusiatically recommend Ashcroft Guest House - a beautiful B&B with award winning gardens. No web site - but address is

Geoff & Christine James
Ashcroft Guest House
Lanty's Lonnen
Haltwhistle
Northumberland
NE49 0DA

rates were (this past June) from 22.50 pounds per person.

About a week ago in Edinburgh we stayed at the Ravenseuk Guest House - 0131-667-5347. It was really nice, maybe the nicest place we stayed in the UK. I guess they have about five rooms. It's about a mile+ walk to the Royal Mile but there are busses nearby. I think we paid 50pounds. The host was nice and the food good.

Also was in Edinburgh about a week ago and stayed in one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed in. Cameron Toll Guest House (has about 10 rooms I believe and was 60 pounds per night). It's a few miles south of town center on Dalkeith Road near Cameron Toll Roundabout. They have a carpark in front and are also on a major busline that will take you to town center very quickly. They have a website and their email address is "[email protected]". The hosts were very friendly, helpful and well-informed, lots of info there on the city, beautiful rooms, great food, dinner available if you want it, comfortable common rooms and a seemingly loyal customer base who come there on a regular basis. I can't say enough good things about them and they are well worth checking out.

Thanks for everyone who answered. I am still checking out places on the internet and found Lenymede B&B in Callander. Wonderful website at

http://www.lenymede.demon.co.uk/index.html

and the prices seem inline with what we want to pay.

Will take all suggestions! The neatest places are found through word of mouth.
