We are planning a trip to Scotland next year. Are there any websites you used to find B&B's?

sssteve Aug 23rd, 2009 07:31 PM

I used lots of sites, but for finding B&Bs, I guess tripadvisor was the main one.

Hi Steve - Great read and lots of good ideas and links. We are planning on going in 2011, along with my brother, so lots of time for planning and getting a feel for the Scottish experience. We are coming from Australia and will be combining a bit of Family History (checking out where the ancestors came from) with our trip. Thanks

What a wonderful and informative trip report. We have also travelled in Scotland to many of the same areas and it was great to read of your experiences.

Also have checked out your home page and am enjoying reading your other reports. Lots of great information and photos and a well organized format makes for fascinating reading.

Thanks for sharing.

Saving for later with a glass of wine!
Can't wait to read it.....hopefully going to the UK in June 2010.

I am wondering if the Scots will begin to let cheap rooms at their former prisons once all the current residents have been compasionately released?

Such a great report! I will bookmark for next time. However, you refer to 'Duarte Castle' somewhere near Loch Ness, and your link is to the Duarte I know well on the Isle of Mull. You refer to the correct one again when you got to Mull. Where might you have been?

HappyCheesehead Aug 24th, 2009 10:06 AM

My guess is was Urquhart Castle :)

sssteve Aug 24th, 2009 10:50 AM

Thanks. Urquart is the correct answer. I'll fix it soon.

sssteve Aug 24th, 2009 10:57 AM

Fixed!

It's a lovely trip report. Thanks for posting it.

(It's Edradour, not Ebradour)

Really excellent report Sssteve. Particularly enjoyed your food reviews. I haven't managed to get to the Three Chimneys yet but it looks like it's worth the trip.

sssteve Aug 25th, 2009 06:19 AM

Thanks Sheila! It's already fixed.

Fantastic report , Steve, as always.
Susan's maiden name was STIRLING and I copied that web page for her. She was there once---would you believe in 1958.

Kelticshaman- what a silly thing to say on this thread. And if you are from the US you have no right to comment on the treatment of prisoners i any other country. It is a privilege to visit Scotland, not a right. If you choose to go elsewhere in Europe that's entirely up to you. Italy maybe?? But you are aware Berlusconi 's heading to Libya soon :) Er, do you even know who Berlusconi is? :P
