Scotland trip help
I have been reading all of the wonderful information regarding Scotland trips and was hoping that perhaps some of you would give your opinion on the planned route my husband and I are taking in March.
We arrive March 6 in Glasgow and plan to spend the night of the 6th & 7th there. Picking up a car, we plan to drive to Plockton and stay 2 nights (8th & 9th) at the Plockton Hotel.
After that we have 3 days, 2 nights open before we check into a timeshare in Aviemore. My husband wants to go to Orkney in that time period. I would appreciate any opinions on that (pro, con, less time in Plockton more in Orkney?, recommendations for accomodations in Orkney?)
We have a time share in Aviemore from March 12-19, another in Aberfeldy from the 19-26. We leave Aberfeldy on the 26th and wish to stay somewhere near the Edinburgh airport as we depart back for the states on Easter Sunday, March 27.
Any comments would be appreciated!!
Thank you,
cann

I tried to answer this from work but ran out of time.
IMHO it's too far from Plockton to Orney for the time you have available. It will take you all of one day to get there, leaving you only two days on the islands. I think that's too much. If you disagree let me know and I'll try to do some Orkney stuff for you.
Having said that, love Plockton as I do, I'd go stir crazy if you made me stay there that long(4 nights), so suggest either you fit Islay into the trip on the way north, OR, you go to the Uists (really too far again) OR, you move up to Poolewe or Gairloch for those two nights.
If you email me I cna send yo a week's worth of stuff to do from Aberfeldy. I have some stuff on Speyside too.

Sheila,
We are still trying to decide which way to go...Orkney or Skye (based at Plockton) or try to fit in both. I would appreciate any info you have on Aberfeldy, Speyside, Orkney etc.
I have emailed you separately.
Thanks again
