Scotland Tour - Globus or Tauck?

We are considering a tour (8days) of Scotland in August. Globus is $1100. and Tauck is $2480. Is Tauck worth the difference? Itineraries are about the same.

The accomodations aren't the same. You get what you pay for.

I'm sure the food will be much better with Tauck. I did a Globus tour in France and had really awful food. The tour guide wasn't that great either.

I haven't done either but close friends did. The food on Globus was terrible - mostly at the hotels which were less expensive because they were not in the cities but out in the suburbs. The people who too Tauck (Italy and Grandy Canyon) said the hotels were great, the food terrific and the guides wonderful.

Globus is low-ish end and Tauck is high end. If you have done tours before you'll know which type fits you better.

BUT - my question is why are you taking a tour? Scotland is a very easy (and relatively inexpensive) place to visit on your own. Instead of rushing around all of Scotland in 8 days - at someone else's pace, why not go see what you want at the pace you like?

I've taken several Tauck Tours in the past (but not to Europe) and they are topnotch. Always had wonderful accomodations with great restaurants (where you order from the menu anything you want). I would think the difference in price would be worth it, but would depend on your circumstances, of course.
