Ok, you Scotland experts really know your stuff, but you also really love to give people a hard time.

i haven't had time to digest all of this, but do appreciate all of good advice.

i'll be back with more questions.
thanks!

dina4: huh- WHERE was the "hard time"??? Truthfully - what did anyone say that wasn't helpful (except Wesse's haggis comment)??

shuba: We weren't saying there is anything at all wrong w/ Stobo. It is just 1) not a castle, 2) not near Edinburgh, and 3) well over $300 for 4 (over $300 for 2 for that matter).

So not the best recommendation for what dina's asked for.

Now I'll go back to being hard on folks -- sheesh . . . .

I don't care. I think it's actually funny and fun...

but...
aside from the whole haggis thing,

<<whisky -- repeat after me W-H-I-S-K-Y>>

i do appreciate the hlep!

In case you haven't read up on haggis yet, this link will give you a 'flavor':
http://www.answers.com/topic/haggis

It can certainly sound appalling, but I suspect that same would be true of most sausage type food. I actually find much haggis to be a bit bland. Although this won't help dina4, the pub Babbity Bowster in the Merchant City section of Glasgow makes a fabulous haggis - and serves it with the traditional neeps and tatties (mashed turnips and potatoes.) Yum!

It makes me sad that you mention only one day in Edinburgh.

Do you really only have a week? I managed to get my reluctant parents to come for at least 10 days. I know how it goes with work and all that though. It's just a shame with the long flight and jet lag.
