"He has been offensive to several of our more knowledgeable contributors."

Knowledgeable is a relative term Josser. Perhaps relative to yourself some appear knowledgeable. I've yet to notice any who I would deem knowledgeable except for a poster named neckervd who posts on Switzerland.

As for those posting on this topic, I hardly expect any of them to be knowledgeable about much beyond the usual tourist haunts.

But let's give them a chance. What is the connection between Chateau Chilon in Switzerland and a spot on the Fife coast? You won't find it with Google.

Now watch them say they don't want to play.

Peter_S_Aus Nov 23rd, 2013 11:31 PM

Ah, maybe you need three compasses to navigate from Chateau Chilon to Fife?

Same that an individual should exhibit so many character flaws in public.

As expected, ignore the question since you can't Google the answer and make smart ass comments instead.

OK, here's another one to try. What's the connection between Cameron House (which I've seen a few mention before) and the isle of Arran?

Let's see who actually knows anything about Cameron House vs. having Googled it and suggested it. Here's a clue.

If you have stayed in Cameron House you have seen the answer.

good tips!

What have Rothesay and Hopetown, The Bahamas in common.

Come on, come on, do you know anything of Scotland ?

janisj Nov 24th, 2013 01:25 PM

I've stayed at Cameron House 4 times (once for a full week) . . and don't care one whit what its connection is. (will stay there again for a week next May)

You are so nasty who the heck CARES what you know or don't know. (Makes one actually start to miss improvisor)

Dickie_Gr Nov 24th, 2013 01:26 PM

I give you the answer,

I have drunk a bottle of brandy on the back of my yacht in each marina.

Now run along, to annoy everyone on TA.

I cannot believe that there are two zeppoles on the planet.

Incredible really.

Peter_S_Aus Nov 24th, 2013 01:34 PM

Dickie, this guy is not the Zeppster. He's the Improviser. Resident of Ottowa, aged 67.

I would say fly to Edinburgh, Scotland, book a cottage online as there are many beautiful cottages to spend vacations over there. Don’t miss to explore Isle of Skye. It is like heaven on earth.

I am amazed to see so many fans of Arran. For years, I have been recommending people to go there, with little support from the Fodor's community and suddenly it has become highly recommended. If you are going to fly in and out of Glasgow because it is cheaper, you could perhaps schedule a visit to Arran at either end of your trip. It involves a one hour train trip and a one hour boat journey. I would not advocate doing it on the day before you travel since bad weather can cancel the boat and you would be stranded.
When my wife and I go to Scotland, we fly to Glasgow and take the shuttle bus to Buchanan Street bus station and catch the regular bus to Edinburgh. This is a simple and economical way to do it, assuming things have not changed since we were last there. Hopefully, the Scottish people will reject independence and stay within the UK. I say this as an immigrant Scot.
