Had another go at the itinerary:

Arrive Thursday 5 July
Rest and recover for husbands long haul from Sydney
Friday 6 explore Edinburgh
Saturday 7 day trip to St. Andrews
Sunday drive to dunkeld
Monday8- tues 9 explore surrounds
Wed 10 drive to Inverness
Thursday 11 - Friday 12 explore surrounds
Saturday 13 Sunday 14 spend on Isle of Skye
Monday 15 leave Skye and head towards lakes district Windermere perhaps stopping overnight somewhere midway ( any suggestions?)


Husband will need to be in London to fly out either Thursday 11 pm or Friday morning to aThens
He will drop us off in Chester ...my daughter and I will use this as a base for Thursday through to Sunday or Monday then train it down to London for tues and wed leaving wed night for Sydney

Husband definitely wAnts to drive to London

Is Inverness a good base or is somewhere smaller like aviemore nicer and easier to get in and out of by car?
