Scotland Bed & Breakfast
Hi All,
My parents have just contacted me from Ireland to enlist my help in finding a place to stay when they get to Scotland. They are looking for a bed & breakfast, guest house, guest farm or anything along those lines. It will need to have two bedrooms with two beds each. They are looking for a place in or near any of the following areas: Oban Dalmallay Paynuilt Tyndrum Crianlarich They also have five places they've heard of but know nothing about. These are: Rockill Farm in Dalmalley Aonach Mor Guest House, Edinburgh Dunedin, Edinburgh Amar Aqua Guest House, Edinburgh Dalkeith Road (this might be an area rather than a place), Edinburgh I've tried searching the forums here and see that there are some posts about lodging but unfortunately, I know absolutely nothing about Scotland so I don't know what's near what! Any suggestions/recommendations, etc would be greatly appreciated! mk |
Would they be willing to go to Mull?
|
I'm not sure about Mull, is it near any of those other places? If you have a recommendation, I will certainly pass it on!

Oban is great; we loved it. Along the waterfront, there are a whole row of interesting Victorian-era B&B's. We stayed at the Kilchrenan House, and enjoyed it.
Here's their web site: http://www.oban.org.uk/cgi-local/acc....pl?kilchrenan A brief review of the other places we stayed in Scotland can be found here: http://www.onelittleworld.com/scotland_6.html Best of luck! |
For Oban, we stayed at the Greencourt B&B in 2002 and loved it:
http://www.greencourt-oban.co.uk/ Unfortunately, I am not familiar with any of the other town names-- did they give you any info on what towns/sites they might be near? We did a loop around Scotland 3 years ago, but none of the names look at all familiar. If you email me, I can give you the itinerary/B&Bs we used. HTH! |
Mull is an Inner Hebrides island, so they would need to take a 45 minute ferry, probably from Oban, to get there. They may not want to take on a ferry ride, or they find the prospect exciting!
If they should want to visit Mull, I would recommend the Achnadrish House. It's very quiet and quite pretty, although it is not situated on the water. I recommend too the Kilchrenan House if they find it easier to stay in Oban. |
