Scotland& Ireland in 8 days

Heh everyone, I only have 8 days to see southern Scotland and Ireland. I want to fly to Edinburg and travel by train if possible? Then go to Dublin or something? OK I am 60 and like to party, but heck I am scotish. Does anyone know where to stay or how to trains work ? I think quaint B & B would be nice but I have not ever stayed in one. I am taking my niece so it will be a girls thing? Just 8 days so I am not sure where to start?

You aren't talking >Scotland & Ireland in 8 days<< -- you are talking Edinburgh and Dublin in 8 days. That is doable. But not by train. Fly to Edinburgh - stay 4 days - fly to Dublin - stay 3+ days - fly home = eight days.

You can't "see" Scotland in 8 days, let alone Scotland AND Ireland. Now -- if you limit yourselves to one country, you could spend 3 days in Edinburgh and 4 or 5 days exploring a tiny part of Scotland -- OR -- 2 days in Dublin and 5 or 6 days seeing a bit of Ireland.

In general -- Scotland is easier by train than Ireland is.
