Hello, we are in early stages of planning a trip to Scotland. We are a family of four, with an 11 year old and a 2 year old in tow. We are hoping to visit Aberdeen and Glasgow. I haven't researched lodgings but would love to stay at an AirBNB, if possible. What would you recommend in terms of activities and sightseeing?

We really need more information than you have provided. When are you planning to go? Why Glasgow and Aberdeen? Glasgow makes sense and there is plenty to do/see in the area around Aberdeen, but the city itself may not be the best choice. Why are you intent on staying at an Air B&B? Are you planning on driving or using public transportation? Most important, what are your interests?

Nothing wrong with Aberdeen or Glasgow - but neither are on the typical visitor's itinerary. Are there specific reasons you chose them? Family connections perhaps?

OK fine, but there is nothing magical about airbnb. Do you just mean you want to rent an apartment? Airbnb is juts one of MANY sources. For Glasgow and Aberdeen (again, why those two) you would of course need two different accommodations.

Besides why Aberdeen + Gasgow . . . When? How many days? How do you plan on moving around? What sorts of things do you want to see and do?

IMHO, Glasgow is totally avoidable. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and worth a visit. You may even consider the Glencoe region. Heading north is the Isle of Skye which is vey beautiful too. Inverness, Aviemore are very nice places too. All depends on what you are looking for as a family.

Glasgow is an interesting city with some good buildings and gardens in and amongst a reasobably failed industrial/urban environment. Mrs Bilbo did a degree there and its not so bad but unless you have particular things you want to see I'd not bother.

Aberdeen, is oil-city, again missing the usual features one goes to Scotland for.
