Scotland
I will be going to Scotland for 6 days in July. Starting off in Edinburgh for 2 nights, then to Oban for 2 nights and need a recommendation for another night before we head back to Edinburgh.
We like whisky, scenery and wildlife. Any recs? |
Mull?
Islay? |
Do you have a car?
You may find difficulty in finding accommodation outside the major towns at this late stage in which case your option would be Glasgow which fits none of your requirements |
Yes, we will have a car.
|
Islay wouldn't really work for one night due to the logistics -- I'm curious why if wildlife and whisky are important you are spending 4/5 of your very short time in Edinburgh and Oban?
Is there a reason for Oban in particular? Then we can help you work out a plan that makes sense. |
We stayed our extra night at the Clahaig Inn in Glen Coe. it is delightful, and very popular with folks passing through with your stated interest. You can drive from Oban up the west coast, get to Glen Coe, then the next day drive back down A82, then east towards Crieff or along the Loch Tay towards, Perth, then back to Edinburgh.
If you are going back to Edinburgh to be close to the Airport, suggest stopping short at one of the lovely towns in Fife. Easier to get into/out of than Edinburgh. Just a thought. |
>>suggest stopping short at one of the lovely towns in Fife<<
They are great - But the Fife fishing villages are a heck of a long ways from Oban . . . we really do need more info - the logical midway stopping point between Oban and Edinburgh would be somewhere in the Trossachs or around Loch Lomond. |
No special reason for Oban janisj , was just trying to get closer to the islands as a launching point.
Open for suggestions!!! We arrive Edinburgh on a Monday early eve, Tuesday Edinburgh, have: Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Saturday evening at Edinburgh airport hotel for an early international flight Sunday morning TIA |
