I see it take 1 hour to drive

Only if you are Lewis Hamilton. Mere mortals will need at least 90 minutes, probably longer.

You drive past Edinburgh in order to reach Drummond Castle or Stirling (Stirling Heads are medallions). Why not stay in Edinburgh then and visit Drummond / Stirling on your way to Oban. Once you reach Inverness you can return the car and head south either by air or sleeper train (or day train if flying from Edinburgh or Glasgow)

Unless you are a real fan of steam trains (and even if you are) I would just drive to Mallaig then take the ferry to Skye, stay 2 nights then leave for Inverness via the Kyle of Lochalsh which means you will pass Eilean Donan on your way to Inverness

Get rid of the one night stays and stay 2 nights minimum - otherwise you will just end up driving and not seeing anything

dotheboyshall: See the OP's other thread -- apparently the Jacobite is a must.
