Thanks schnauzer..I visited Santa Margherita and portofino few years ago when I spent a week in Manarola..However, never been to Camogli..

Riomaggiore is the first village, coming from la Spezia, of CT.

Enjoy your stay in Bella liguria..

Color me jealous. It all sounds so good! Glad to hear that gelato (packed with vitamins) and chocolate cake (full of antioxidants, I am sure) are helping you with your cold.

schnauzer,

I have been following your story and have found it fascinating. Thank you for all the small details. I have yet to visit Italy and am trying to decide where to go first. Your details are very hepful. You mentioned that your cheapest meal was at Bar Garibaldi at a cost of 25E. Do you know the conversion by chance to American dollars. I am trying to estimate my daily cost to eat while vacationing in Italy. At least to get a general idea. Anyone's help would be appreciated. Regardless, I look forward to hearing about your next journey. I hope it is soon! Best wishes!

schnauzer,

I forgot a question. Where in Italy did you land when you left Paris? I don't know the airport codes very well. Was it close to SML? Thanks again.

Schnauzer, I am so enjoying your trip report from SML. It looks like a place we would enjoy. Glad you enjoyed Cafe Qui Parle in Paris as it is one of our favorites. Tonight at home we enjoyed a bottle of Molly Dooker/Two Left Feet (delicious wine from South Australia--Shiraz,cabernet,merlot blend) and said that we really need to come to your lovely country--even though it takes forever to get there. Have a safe trip home.

Thanks everyone for your support. I have enjoyed writing my report as I know just how quickly you can forget what you did the day before let alone last week!!!

Laidback when you say home, is that home home or Paris home? Please come to Australia - we can give you lots of info. Certainly Cafe qui Parle was the best food we had in Paris. We wanted to go there tonight for our last meal in Europe but they were closed on Sunday night. Darn.

Distantshores, we landed at Genoa GOA which was 20 mins to the train station Principe by bus (only run on the hour every hour) then because we caught an intercity train which stopped at SML it only took 1/2 hours to get to our destination. This morning it is going to take an hour to get back to the station as there isn't a fast train. And the buses run on the 1/2 hour every hour. Which I don't think is frequent enough! IMO.

Hope that helps, off for our last brekkie at the hotel, will eat up as there won't be time for lunch.

"speak" to you all when I am back home in Australia.

Schnauzer

Thank you schnauzer for the great pleasure of "riding along" with you on your vacation in Italy. I feel I could navigate the landscape around SML and Portofino with little trouble because of the great info you have shared in your daily journals. I also wanted to thank you for the awesome photos of your daily travels. I forgot to thank you in my previous replies. Have a safe trip home!

Schnauzer, thank you for sharing your experiences. We will be heading to Liguria in August for 8 days after spending 5 days in Tuscany. Reading your journa,l as well as Ekscrunchy's, has gotten me so excited. Taking note diligently so I will have a head start. I can hardly wait for August!

You are probably on the way home now. Don't forget to post about your last night in Paris. To answer your question--we are at home home now. We returned to the US about a week ago.We have been so busy we haven't had a chance to get homesick for Paris, yet!
