Schengen Visa for US Green card Holders
We are green card holders but Colombian citizens. My son will go to represent the US in Germany at a Sports Competition. My Husband and me would like to go with our son. I am already been for the same reasons in Switzerland and also in Canada. We are planning to stay only about five days. Any advise on how much money do we need in our bank account to obtain the visa?
Thanks,

This german website will give you the info you need.
http://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/diplo...umpflicht.html
I believe your status as US green card holders is irrelevant to German authorities. The application mentions nothing about bank account - it merely asks you to check a box indicating your means of support during your stay (cash, credit card, etc)

In addition to the website mentioned above, look at
http://www.germany.info/relaunch/inf...a/tourist.html
Although the bank issue is not on the application, you need to show at least one months' worth of bank or other financial institution's statements. We've had people with minimal amounts in their accounts (under $5,000) and their applications have been accepted without issue.
Your status as a US green card holder is relevant, as you need to show the I-94 form to the Consulate when applying.
