Scenic Route in Germany
 

I'm landing in Frankfurt, renting a car, driving to Strasbourg then to Fussen, then dropping off car in Munich. I only have 2 days for this. What is the driving times? What are the best sites to see along the way?

Um, this is pretty ambitious and you will spend a lot of time in the car...just be aware. Are you on business? touring? Is your desire to see the cathedral at Strassbourg and then Neuschwanstein? An alternative may be the cathedral at Ulm on the southern route to Fussen from Frankfurt - still ambitious, but a little less road time.

All you are going to see along the way in 2 days with that route is highway markers and gas stations

Do you mean 2 days for the whole trip, e.g. land Monday morning in Frankfurt, arrive Tuesday night in Munich? Or 2 nights with planned overnight stays in both Strasbourg and Füssen?

From Frankfurt airport follow directions to Basel which will get you on A5 southbound. Don't look for compass direction like A5 south, since directions are only given by destinations. Exit 54 will be Strasbourg. Don't trust viamichelin's driving times blindly since A5 is a major artery with heavy traffic more than possible.
If time was not an issue, I'd consider Heidelberg, Speyer, and Baden-Baden possible stopovers on your way to Strasbourg.

The most scenic route from Strasbourg-Füssen would be through the Black Forest and along the Northern shore of Lake Constance. But that would require almost exclusively driving on time-consuming 2-lane highways. Not really realistic. So you'll probably have to drive back north a bit from Strasbourg and then to Füssen via A5/A8/A7.

How will hardly have any time for scenic routes and sidetrips.

What you can do:

- Driving time from Frankfurt to Strasbourg is about 3 hours. You can either make a short stop in Heidelberg (1 hour) on your way to Strasbourg or you spend two hours driving in the beautiful area around Strasbourg (quant Obernai, wine villages like Boersch, Ottrot, drive into the mountains).

- Driving time from Strasbourg to Füssen is about 4 hours. You should take the fastest route on the autobahn and save your time for the Füssen area (Hohenschwangau, Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, Wieskirche).

- From there to München (about 2 hours).
