Scenic route from Bayeux to Amboise in one day???
I'm in the early planning stages of a trip and I'm trying to figure out the best way to get from Bayeux to Amboise on a one day drive.
I've already plotted out routes through the Michelin website. But my REAL question here is: how can I make it a more interesting drive with some sightseeing along the way? Any recommendations for routes that would include some interesting sightseeing? Thanks. |
Have you used the "discovery" option on the Michelin route planner? It will route you over scenic routes wherever possible.
South of Bayeux, you might want to stop in Falaise to see the castle of William the Conquerer. If you are interested in the Battle of Normandy, there is also a small and very interesting museum there on the closing of the Falaise Gap. It may be slightly out of your way, but south-west of Falaise near Chambois is the Polish memorial on top of Mont Ormel. It is an outstanding museum covering the latter stages of the Battle of Normandy in which the Polish Armoured Division played an important role. There are great views over the entire plain from there. |
Hi, Laverendrye: Thanks for the reply.
Yes, I did check the "discovery" route on Michelin. However, it's more interesting to learn what other Fodor's members have to say. Thanks again for the information. |
