ScanRail prices Vs Point to Point tickets
 

Hi :)

My partner and I are contemplating of travelling within Scandanavia for around 2-2.5 weeks. Originally we thought of doing Scan Rail but after reading a couple of guide books and also posts in here, they all seem to suggest that point to point tickets works out to be cheaper.

I have found the website to Scan Rail, but is there such a site where I can see the prices of point to point tickets within the Scandinavia-just so I can do my own calculations?

Not familiar wit hScan Rail, but I think you can generaly get accurate prices from railsaver.com

You might find that if all you want is individual prices, then enter each city pair as if it is the entire trip.

Use the site that Rex recommends above, but highlight the "only if railpasses save me money" option.

If you're going to Sweden, and know your itinerary ahead of time, there are Just Nu tickets which are much cheaper than regular. You can book them through www.swedenbooking.com. I just bought two tickets from Copenhagen to Stockholm for late July. They are 1/4 the price being shown on Raileurope. (I do think those are high though.) They are about 1/2 the price indicated on Rick Steves' maps (diagrams).

Betsy - -while I normally give that proviso - - I don't think you could ever get a suggestion to buy any kind of pass, if you enter your itinerary as just start at city A, go to city B, done. That is one of the ways I would generally use to try to check a fare between any two points.

There are situations for which this will be misleading - - won't reflect PREM fares, trenitalia promotions, advance Eurostar fares, etc.

But it gives you a baseline for the normal (walk-up) "full fare".

The Norwegio has mini-me tickets at ww.nsb.no. Thosr 199 kronikerios which is only abuot $32 for one-ways anywhere in the Noweggian country. Butt you have to do it online ahead of times! And Damnark is only about 3 hours and maybe $40 from Copyhagen to Airhouse so it's reel ez. Sweden takes longer but they have the saffle bussen or something like thats real cheep. My and my hubbie used Skankrails pases in 2003 but it was not worth wheile.
