Scandinavian Jewerly
I'm going to be on a business trip to Scandinavia next month. I usually try and pick up a unique piece of jewelry for my wife while away. I don't know much about this region. Are there any gemstones that are less expensive over there?

Also wondering what time of food will I be eating while I'm there. I'm pretty much a meat and potato guy, but would be willing to try some new fish (I love salmon) if someone could recommend some good meals.

Thanks

Not sure if they have any gemstones that are native to the area, but they offer a lot of pewter and silver jewelry.

I second the Georg Jensen recommendation. I have been to their store in Chicago and have drooled over their jewelry. I was told that they do not carry everything in the line. The quality is exceptional. You won't go wrong I promise!!

In which country in Scandinavia are you going to? If you by any chance are coming to Finland, we have very beautiful different types of jewelry.

For instance there is the Kalevala Koru which has a broad collection of gold, silver and bronze jewellery, models dating back to the Viking era.
http://www.kalevalakoru.fi/content.aspx?id=133

Then we have Lapponia jewellery collection, which has some very elegant models.
http://www.lapponia.fi/

The only mineral in Finnish groud, which could be thought as a gemstone, is called spectrolite (spektroliitti in Finnish). This is a very colourful and beautiful stone: http://www.ylamaa.fi/luokitukset.htm

I bought a couple of typical bracelets over there. One is a braided pewter rope, attached to a leather strap, with an elk horn button closure. Also I bought a sterling bracelet with an acrylic see through bead that had one of their mountain flowers. Marilyn
