Scandanavia trip help for three-generation summer trip needed.
 

I would like to plan a family trip for three generations from the Southeast U.S. to Scandanavia for this summer. Travelers are: senior citizens, middle-aged parents and their children ranging in age from 8 to 15. We have a maximum of 10 days total. I'd like to end in Stockholm with the RCCL 4-night cruise to St. Petersburg, then fly home from Stockholm. Mobility for one of the senior citizens is somewhat limited, so hiking, climbing lighthouses, lots of getting around on subways, buses, etc. would not be an option. Train rides yes, taxis, cruise, etc. fine.

I'd be interested in seeing Copenhagen and something of Norway if doable without the trip being too taxing or expensive. Is this reasonably possible?

Other family members are leaning toward a Caribbean cruise, but the senior citizens (grandparents) have never been to Scandanivia and I know if I can figure out a trip that the limited-mobility traveler can enjoy AND keep prices down that would be something they'd like to do.

Can anyone give me an idea of a schedule and activities that could accommodate these requirements?

It sounds like a fun trip - but also an expensive one. do you have any idea of budget?

Scandinavia is never cheap - and the cruises (if decent) can cost the earth.

Is the 4 night cruise part of the 10 days you have available? If so then I think you need to decide on one other area to visit, Possibly just staying around the Stockholm area even, since 4 nights means 6 days, plus arriving in Stockholm,a jetlag day, and leaving again - that's pretty much your 10 days.

I agree with hetismij. Stockholm and St. Petersburg both deserve several days (I'd say at least 3 and 4-5, respectively). And as nytraveler said, Scandinavia is not inexpensive!

You might consider a Scandinavian cruise for the whole trip. You would get to visit several ports, and cruising might be easier on the seniors.
