Saveur magazine, the 11 best olive oils

i was happy to see my favorite the MoulinJean Marie Cornille listed number 1, though it may not mean number 1 of the 11, maybe just from France.

Hello Mimi, was there any mention as to the best Italian olive oils (made with 100% Italian oils)? I love olive oil even though it is expensive. Liquid gold is what my late husband called excellent olive oil.

Well, Maussane-les-Alpilles and Moulin Jean Marie Cornille just went from an "I think we'll make a stop here" to a "We will definitely make a stop here." It's just a matter of deciding to do it before or after we visit Languedoc/Roussillon.

I have not seen the list but Spanish olive oils are often over looked. There are many that redolent and vary from subtle to extremely strong.

Thank you, Mimi! And yes dear one I am so familar with the fact that even though the olive oil is marked "Produced in Italy" that no longer means that the olive oil is from olives grown in Italy. I bought a bottle, a brand I had purchased in the past, some years ago and thought "it doesn't taste the same". Well it was because the olives were from Spain and Greece and if memory serves me right also Africa. But because the olives were made into olive oil in Italy they were allowed to mark their product "Produced in Italy". It is interesting that the Mcevoy Ranch olive oil is on the list, I must try that brand as of course we have it here in our area. Thank you for the information, dear one.
