Saturday Afternoon Car Hire in Scotland

Does anyone know of somewhere you can hire a car in Scotland on a Saturday afternoon? We are going up by train so don't want to have to go to an airport. Ideally we'd like to get out at Perth, but all the car hire companies I've contacted there close after lunch.

If just one of those companies opened later, I'm sure they'd make a killing - they would have no competition.

Except the others would have to follow and then they'd all lose money.

You'll pretty much have to go to a major airport. Instead of Perth -- take the train to Edinburgh or Glasgow.

There are easy connections from Glasgow city centre to GLA and from central Edinburgh out to EDI. I'd probably choose Edinburgh/EDU myself. Getting out of EDI and heading north is very easy.

It isn't just Scotland BTW. City centre rental agencies -- even the major international firms will be closed most of the weekend all over the UK. And small rural companies even more so . . .

Oops -- that should be Edinburgh/EDI . . .

You don't have to go to an airport this Arnold Clark branch in Glasgow is open on Saturday and Sunday.

Staff are lovely and they will usually pick you up from the City Centre or West End. They used to be my regular car hire company and the prices are pretty reasonable.

Actually looking at their website, quite a few branches open on Sunday.....including Stirling, Edinburgh, Kirkaldy etc

It will be better to book in advance. If you book online with any of the car rental company for your weekend car rental needs you can definitely get a car. You can try renting one from Carshireuk dot com as personally I had quite a good experience with them. Their rates are nominal and they have a large fleet of cars.
