Sardinia or Corsica??

We will be in Tuscany/Umbria for a while this fall, and are thinking of spending 4 - 5 days in either Sardinia or Corsica - we've never been to either, so we're wide open to suggestions. I'm guessing we would RyanAir from Pisa or Rome, then get a rental car there. We are a 60's couple, love good food & wine, as well as historical sightseeing. Beaches are nice, but not our primary concern. We're very comfortable driving in Italy/France. Any help will be appreciated!

CORSICA was more interesting to me then Sardinia.

great food, lovely french market with LOCAL wonderful food, produce, special local flavor. Lovely boutiques.
Napoleon historic sights.
The beaches were lovely ......you may surprise yourselves and relax on the beach even for a short visit.

TrendGirl - thanks - any suggestion for a town or two to base ourselves in? Grazie...et merci!

Corsica, 100%.

Sardinia is beautiful but Corsica is more mysterious, more rugged and more interesting.

AJACCIO, CORSICA offered many things appealing in my opinion. I liked the little town very much & thought the beaches were great. I think there is enough to do to base yourself in that town, and if you want to explore other parts of the island it would not be too difficult.

Their are enough restaurants, cafes, to give you choices to eat and pleasant to walk around the area.

The port is very nice and I think may even offer different excursions by boats to be on the water.

That market in the center town square was fantastic....very authentic.....with local people selling wonderful food.
