Sardinia as part of a honeymoon?
Does anyone have any thoughts on staying in Sardinia for a honeymoon in June? I'm concerned the towns on the Amalfi Coast will be too touristy and crowded.

We were in Alghero, Sardinia, two years ago in early June and it was very quiet. Many hotels and stores had not yet opened for the season. This year we were on the Amalfi Coast in August and it was pretty crowded, but I suspect June will be much less so. They are both wonderful places, but my preference would be for the Amalfi Coast, even with the tourists!

I'd imagine June would be the perfect time to go. I haven't been to the Amalfi yet, but from the pics I've seen and info. that I have read the beaches can't compare (if that's of concern).

I used 2 good guidebooks to help me plan my time there:
The Lonely Planet one

I found that almost all the tourists there were European, especially Italian. I'm not sure if you are American, but you probably wouldn't run into any there. That may be why info. is not so easy to come by, in my experience, in the US.

In addition to the books recommended above, you might want to check out the Rough Guide to Sardinia and the Cadogan Guide to Sardinia, which I've been using to help me plan my trip. I've also been plowing my way through a couple of guidebooks in Italian (I can find you the publication info if you're interested) and surfing the Web.

Heather 17: You asked for recommendations on the Amalfi Coast. I really recommend Villa Rosa in Positano. Each room has a terrace and it is in a spectacular location looking out over the town and the water. A light breakfast is served on your own terrace. In August we paid 150 euros a day.
