Sardinia

My husband and I are interested in visiting Sardinia next summer. Any suggestions for places to stay? Is it possible to stay in a nice beachfront resort for less than $300 a night? Also, what would be a nice inland spot to visit and possibly spend a few days? Please leave replys on the message board. Thanks.

I stayed at Grand Hotel Porto Cervo and loved it!!! Great location right on very elite Costa Smerelda, but very affordable. It was around 100 per person, per night including 2 meals a day. If you would like to know more, feel free to e-mail me directly or post here. They do have a website.

Here are a couple of recommendations (all within your stated budget):

1. Hotel Villa Las Tronas in Alghero (sporadic summer residence of King Vittorio Emanuele III during the early part of the 20th Century). Very elegant, refined and intimate. Charming town.

2. Grand Hotel Chia Laguna at Chia Beach (south of Santa Margherita di Pula, southwest coast of Cagliari). Wonderful beach and sea.

3. Hotel Riviera in Castelsardo (lovely view of the Castelsardo Castle)

Hi Marie,

I have just returned from spending 6 days in Alghero, Sardinia and thought it was beautiful.

It is a small town situated on the North West coast with great beaches and interesting scenery.

We stayed in a private villa which was lovely and affordable. The lady who actually owned it lived above us and she was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly and I would definitely recommend her.

The centre is small, but has some lovely shops and the restaurants were very good. I don't think I have a bad word to say about it. We managed to get a flight from London for £21 (US$32) return, so it would have been a crime not to go!!

Regards.

Natalie

For GBP 21 return, it would be a crime not to go to Alghero once a month! Where did you find such an air fare?
