Santorini recommended excursion from ferry port

Mu husband and I have 4 hours between ferries from Milos to Crete. We arrive in Santorini at 12:30 and would like to take an excursion or go somewhere for a nice lunch. Our ferry to Crete is not until 5:00. Can anyone suggest something fun to do in that time frame? We will have already spent 4 days on Santorini at the beginning of our trip. And we have visited the island before, so we have already done the most popular things. I think we would like to go for a long lunch somewhere on the water that would not be too far away from the ferry port. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Take a taxi from the port to Monolithos Beach for lunch at Taverna Skaramagas. Or if a lovely view is good enough go to Metaxi Mas in Exo Gonia. It's near Pyrgos, on a hill overlooking Kamari Beach.

I suppose you know that there is a once weekly overnight ferry from Milos to Heraklion (Crete).

I did not see an overnight ferry from Milos to Crete when I was searching. If there is, it must not work with my date. Thank you for the advice.

If you will have spent four days on the island at the start of your trip, why not find your venue for a long lunch while you're there?

Were it me I would play it by ear until the ferry from Milos arrives on Santorini, because if it is running late you may not have 4 hours. Even with a full 4 hours it will take a while just in travel time to get anywhere and back. Personally I would have a bite to eat at a cafe in the port, and settle down with a good book.

It's the Seajet 2. That is just about always an hour or two late. So you won't have time to go anywhere. I would just lounge in the port.

I guess we will play it by ear. Thank you for all of the advice.

Just out of curiosity I followed SeaJet 2 on marinetraffic.com this morning. Winds were light in the Aegean today, so the ferry sailed in almost ideal conditions. It stopped twice (Folegandros and Ios) between Milos and Santorini, and arrived on Santorini about 30 minutes late. Had winds been stronger it would have run even later, so Retsina's "an hour or two late" is realistic.

Roadster, I hope you aren't using SeaJet 2 to get from Piraeus to Milos. This little ferry is only 42 meters long, and short rides are bearable, but I wouldn't want to take it all the way from Athens in rough seas. Your ferry from Santorini to Crete will probably be Champion Jet 2, which is a much larger catamaran.
