Santorini (Greece) : Ferries pros and cons

Hi

I will be heading to Santorini in late September 2015 and would like to get advice about whether to take the ferry or fly there. Which ferry is recommended and how reliable is booking the tickets ahead vs buying it on the day of travel?

Should I get the tickets online or through an agent? Thanks in advance

In summer, the slow ferry Bluestar Delos leaving Piraeus at 7.25am is the most relaxing and the most scenic approach to Santorini.
But end September it might not be a bad idea to fly.

We went in late September last year and flew. I envy you. I wish I was going back.

The view coming into the port is very beautiful. However, the ferry ride is about 5 hours from Piraeus. Too long for me. Flight takes about 30 minutes.
