Santorini-Folegandros-?????-Mykonos

Hello, planning our honeymoon for late May / early June and would really appreciate any advice on our itinerary. We're going to spend 5 nights on Santorini, then 4 on Folegandros; after that, where to?? Our 4th and final island, before flying back to ATH, will be Mykonos. So an island with a good connection between Folegandros and Mykonos would be ideal. We would like something that would be more of a contrast to Santorini/Mykonos (i.e., something more along the lines of Folegandros). I was hoping for Koufonissia but it seems that getting to there from Folegandros, and from there to Mykonos, would be too difficult. So now we're thinking Sifnos, Naxos, Paros; any thoughts? Or any ideas on how to add Koufonissia easily? Thanks in advance!

Paros would be the best island for making connections to and from both Folegandros and Mykonos. Paros would also be what you're looking for in terms of a contrast to Santorini and Mykonos. It's more developed than Folegandros, but still a good choice. That, or Antiparos, which is easy to get to from Paros by frequent and fast local daily ferries.

This website will show you schedules for next May-June, but probably not for at least another 6 weeks, maybe longer. Ferries from Folegandros to Paros and back will not be an everyday occurrence.

I'm looking into that same route (Santorini-Folegandros-Paros) myself, and at about the same time period. As brotherleelove said, it's too early to get the ferry timetables yet, but that's not something to be concerned with.

Paros indeed seems to be the best connection between Folegandros and Mykonos, but from what I can tell so far, there are only two ferries per week from Folegandros to Paros. The other alternative would be to double back to Santorini and catch one of the daily ferries that stop at Paros, Naxos, and Mykonos.

Your itinerary will give you the chance to visit some very different islands, but you need to remain flexible. There is absolutely no problem finding accommodation on the islands in late May and early June, so you don't need to book ahead.

Paros ist certainly a very good option, but may I suggest Syros. The capital Ermoupolis is also the capital of the cyclades.

Thank you all very much. I initially wanted to avoid Paros (for no good reason other than the fact that it is a ferry hub), but the more I read about it, the better it sounds. We would want to stay near Naoussa, it sounds like; does anyone know anything about the Stelia Mare hotel?

And any comments about the number of days we're planning at each island?
Santorini - 5 nights
Folegandros - 4 nights
Paros - 3 nights
Mykonos - 4 nights

Heimdall, I understand your point about being flexible and not needing to worry about accomodations that time of year, and if it weren't our honeymoon I'd play it by ear. But in this case, I want us to get the best rooms at the best hotels on each island, so I need to plan ahead a bit. We want to be close to towns and in smaller hotels (e.g., no resort type places), so we have the honeymoon suite at Katikies on Santorini, Anemomilos on Folegandros, and Belvedere on Mykonos, and as mentioned above, I'm thinking an exec suite at Stelia Mare for our time on Paros...

m_wool, if you want the best rooms at the best hotels, then of course you should make reservations. But until you know when the ferries are leaving Santorini for Folegandros, and Folegandros for Paros, you won't be able to plan exactly how many days to spend on each island. Your length of stay will be governed by ferry departures rather than how long you would like to spend.

Hopefully, when you make your reservations the hotels will allow you to add or subtract a day or two to account for the ferry schedule, which should be published sometime in April or early May.

Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage, and have a wonderful honeymoon.
