Santorini ferry port
 

I am working on a trip to Greece in the spring beginning in Crete. We also want to spend a few days in Santorini and Folegandros before flying back to Athens to do a little touring from there.

In looking at current ferry and airline schedules, realizing they may not be exactly the same next spring, we should go from Heraklion to Folegandros, return to Santorini, then fly to Athens.

This requires a ferry Heraklion to Santorini and a ferry to Folegandros 5 hours later. We've taken ferries in and out of Santorini in the past but I cannot recall the port at all, only the drive from it. Are there restaurants or cafes? Is there anything to do there for 5 hours (even a comfy spot to read a book would be OK)? Are taxis readily available if we decide to head somewhere other than the port for lunch? I know this is a stretch, but any luggage storage?

There are several restaurants with indoor/outdoor seating and a couple of food shops on the wharf at the port. Taxis are available, as is a bus to Fira. Not sure about left luggage. Santo Wines would be a good place to go and it's just above the port.

We are going from Santorini to Folegandros too so was interested in your thread. I clicked on the first link to the photo and got an error message but clicked the refresh button and the photo appeared. You could try that.

Kayf, you may have more options if you are already in Santorini. We'll be coming from Crete and want to go to Folegandros first so we can later fly out of Santorini. This gives us a 5 hr layover at the port with luggage. We may try to taxi to Perissa beach for lunch or just have an exceedingly long lunch at the port.
Ferry & flight logistics for Greece are difficult when planning this early.

I'm glad you finally got to see the photo, although since yesterday more have been added and now it's not the first one!
