Santorini

Going to be in Santorini in early July for 6 days...should we stay there they whole time, or should we check out another nearby island for a couple of days before heading back to athens to fly out? thanks!

Definitely plan to go to a second island. Santorini is wonderful, but 6 days is more than enough time to see all of it. There are some great posts here about many of the islands. Do a search up above and enjoy reading.

You will have a great trip. Pack sunscreen and a hat! (And a polarizing filter for your camera! Those white houses in the Greek sun are dazzling, to say the least.)

If you need constant diversion and feel the need to keep moving then visit another nearby island. Othewise relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you on Santorini.

I just got back from Athens, Mykonos, Santorini & Crete - Santorini was BY FAR my favorite island. Absolutely gorgeous...I was there for 3 1/2 days and wish I had spent more time there. I am usually a traveller who is on the go and wants to do and see everything. However, when I arrived in Oia and checked into my hotel with a gorgeous view of the caldera, all I wanted to do was kick back, relax and take in the gorgeous view. I still saw quite a bit of the island, but wished I had more time in Santorini to relax and take it all in. It really is a beautiful island...

I agree with brotherlee love, depends on what type of traveler you are as to whether or not you should spend your entire 6 days in Santorini. I could definitely have spent 6 days there...If you are intent on seeing another island - maybe you could do a 4 day Santorini, 2 day trip somewhere else (Naxos or Mykonos?) Enjoy...you will love Santorini no matter how long you decide to stay there!!

I went to Santorini and Crete last summer and fell in love with both islands. THEY are very different...Santorini was relaxing and breathtaking but Crete had amazing ruins and cool landscapes. I would suggest doing three days in each...which I did and found it to be perfect. Actually I ended up staying in Santorini one extra night and skipped out on going to Athens because it was such a dream there. You will NOT be disappointed staying there for a few extra days if you like to relax in a picturesque setting. It really depends on what you like to do during your vacations. I found Crete and Santorini to be a perfect combo!
