Hi!<BR>Does anyone have any information about the Hotel Santa Prisca in Rome?<BR><BR>Thanks!

Unless I'm wrong, 2-star Hotel S. Prisca is a mile or so, south of Isola Tirbertina and the Bocca della Verit&agrave;, at the southern edge of Rione (city quarter) Ripa. This is way off the main sites (a 1.3 mile stroll to the Colosseum), even though the area is quite well served by bus lines (#343 to the Colosseum, Metro and S. Giovanni in Laterano; #23 to St Peter's; #907 to Piazza Venezia, etc).

I have stayed at the Hotel Santa Prisca located at Largo M. Gelsomini 25 which is in the Aventino Section of Rome. I have stayed there 4 or 5 times while attending meetings at the United Nations Food & Agri Organization which is a 15 min walk. The most recent was in 1990. I think was once a convent, in any case, it's clean, the desk staff speak English, pretty much, and the rooms and bathrooms are very small, but adequate. It is 5 min walk to the Piramide Stn on the Metropolitana line 2. Off the tourist path for sure, but not a bad location for a walker. It is about a 15 minute walk to Trestevere which has many good resturants. Let me know if you want more info.

I checked with my wife who was with me on several of the trips and we both can only remember private showers, no bathtubs. I can't verify that all rooms have showers, but I/we always did and I thought they all did. It's not a convent now and I don't remember any curfew, but you may have to ring the bell to get in after midnight or so. I don't think the rooms have A/C, at least they didn't when I stayed there. It didn't bother us because we were only there in the spring or fall. However, if the weather happens to be extra warm and you sleep with the windows open, the rooms that overlook Via Delle Marmorata (the street that goes toward the river) begin to get noisy from heavy traffic starting about 5 AM or so. The Hotel sets on a big lot well back from the street, rather a nice setting. Again, It's not classy but we always found it clean and quiet and the water was always hot. I hope my memory isn't defective after all this time. Good Luck
