Zeppole ,
I could eat mussels and fish every day, rabbit is out, not crazed for anchovies unless its in Spiedino alla Romana ( bread with the crust cut off, mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, olive oil, and anchovy oil or paste - the bread is sliced, all of the above put in between the slices, loaf put back together with toothpicks and baked for a short time..delicioso!
Zeppole, as a matter of fact we have a hurricane heading for us by Monday - looks to be going straight up the middle of Florida which puts us in the "cone" - but not clear whether it will be to the East Coast or West Coast yet. If you haven;'t lived through 138 mph winds and their trying to lift off the roof, not the shingles, but the entire roof attached to the building, one can have no real appreciation of why we Floridians are looking for places to get the
H. out of here during those months
Zeppole, any chance of finding a private B & B type affair, or someone renting a room for several months as inexpensively as possible ? Do they have those things over there?
I know a woman from Bruxelles who comes to Florida in the winter and rents in that manner...however, Florida and the US of course is very different from France and Italy so I dont know if they would have similar situations.

mmm. yumyum Potato gnocchi used to be one of my favorites. Long time since I've had any
Webvision, I used to live about 12 miles from the Rhode Island border - way way way up in Connnecticut, where there is not much to do except go to Foxwoods
and canoe on the Niantic River. And occasionally I do miss walking down the street by the side of the river and the fishermen pulling out their lobster catches in their cages - you could buy a just caught lobster for $5.
Webvision, Will you be in the Riviera area in early October ?

Mahya2,
You might begin by looking around this website:
http://www.blumenriviera.com/
I suspect it's always possible to enter into a long-term relationship with an individual rental once you've visited and gotten to know people.
If you don't require a seaview, and are willing to consider unfashionable towns -- where the climate and food is just as good -- you might find bargains.
The more Italian you know, the better, although there is a long tradition of the British spending winters in places like Bordighera or San Remo. Sometimes they have vacation homes there that they let.
There may also be B&Bs happy to have long-term stays, although I would want something of a kitchen. Eating out all the time would be expensive, and even tedious.

Mille Grazie Zeppole,
Io parlo l'Italiano senza accento ma non ricordo molto perque non ce' personne per parlare e anche adesso la mia grammatica e terrible.
But living there for a couple of months should be very helpful and the opportunity to take lessons.
thank you so much for the good ideas and website. I'll check it out -
