sandy beaches

I see conflicting information on the web about which are stoney beaches and which are sandy beaches. Is Oludeniz a sandy beach? Where are the best sandy beaches on the west coast? thank you

You should repost with a title like "Turkey Beaches."

Best Sandy Beaches in Turkey :
East of Antalya From Lara to Alanya.
Incekum area ( translated in English Finesand )Side and Alanya are quite famous with its fine sandy beaches.

Patara Beach near Kalkan ( 18 km.s of beach has been awarded by Sunday Times if I am not mistaken of the paper best beach of Mediterranean )

Oludeniz ofcourse as you stated.

Those are the ones I know and been....

Murat

Thanks for the information. The article I read went on to say that Turks often prefer stoney beaches as they consider sand to be dirty. Oh well, you can't always believe what you read. We will be there in May so I don't think it will be hot. I am more concerned that it won't be hot enough. What about the beach at Kalkan? It sounds like Patara beach is nicer than Kalkan.

Kalkan has a small public pebbly beach. Apart from that there are number of beach clubs with beach platforms one can deep straigh into water from these platforms.
Patara is the beach and close by.

Interesting about Turks do not like sandy beaches !!!! what an assumption :-))
Depending on where you are you might be surprized with the weather in may.

Have Fun,

Murat

Oludeniz was terribly crowded and solid with sunbeds when we went there, though that was early September, it may be better in May.

Our favourite beach near Kalkan was Kaputas, a short dolmus drive away. It's a mixture of sand and shingle and absolutely beautiful:
