Sandwich bars in London
A lot of people have recommended Pret a Manger as a sandwich bar in London but speaking as someone who lives locally you will need to take out a mortgage to buy just a normal sandwich. You can get cheap and filling sandwiches from a chain called Benjy's (all over the West End and the City of London) If you fancy something a bit more exotic try the chain called Eat who do a variety of different snacks and serve good soup

Hope this may help
Andrew

Thanks Andrew! I'm headed to London in a month and Pret a Manger was all I'd heard about. Good to know. I'll definitely put those places on my list for a cheap meal. : )

I just returned from another trip to London and I've eaten at Benjy's several times. Pret a Manger is ok but I prefer Benjy's just because they have more of a variety.

Bacon Baps! Yum! Why don't we have bacon like that in the US? Of course you'd have to work out all day to burn it off.

Don't forget the pre-packaged sandwiches at Waitrose (grocery store) and Marks & Spencer, if you're on a budget. They look like those vending machine sandwiches here in the States, but they are much better and fresher!

... and to follow up on Mel's suggestion, I personally think that the prepackaged sandwiches at Marks & Spencers taste much better than Pret a Manger ... I personally find that Pret a Manger sandwiches are a bit tasteless. Marks also has tasty prepackaged pasta salads that make a nice meal on the go.
