San Sebastian to the airport (EAS)
I know there is an Interbus that goes from the airport (EAS) to San Sebastian (Plaza Guz....forgot the full name).
However, I have an early flight out of the airport and the bus doesn't leave early enough. I was told a taxi from the old town area can cost 50 Euros to the airport. Are there any other cheaper alternatives to a taxi? And apart from the bus.....I'd miss my flight on its schedule. |
I just googled it and it says 25 Euros from San Sebastian to airport.

nycrani,
I just looked at www.aena.es, and they estimate that a taxi from Hondarribia to San Sebastián will run about 27 euros-just in line with what cruiseluv has already told you. And a taxi is your very best alternative with an early flight. It will not cost 50 euros! |
Thanks so much.
The reservation desk at the hotel I'm staying at said 50 Euros. So, I'm relieved to hear it is much less. |
How can you possibly leave San Sebastian? LOL
|
hi john,
My sentiments exactly! A city that's really hard to leave! mycrani, The 50 rate quoted by the hotel *may* be for a private transfer. That might be the going rate for private limo service from one of the 4 or 5 star hotels, like the Villa Soro, María Cristina...It's only a 20 minute drive, so that's steep. You can find out the going rate for a taxi from most Spanish airports into the city at www.aena.es, plus how to do the transfer by public transportation and other useful airport info. |
Thanks Maribel. Maybe that is what the 50 Euros was for.
Is it easy to find a taxi early in the morning? Do I call or do I go to a taxi stand? I imagine I would have to leave around 6:30am. Give my self a couple hours at the airport. My flight is at 9am. |
nycrani,
The Hondarribia (SS) airport is tiny-just not that many flights a day (15-16), and flights only to Madrid and Barcelona, so you really don't need to be there 2 hrs. in advance. Will you be on the 9:10 Spanair to Madrid? In very small airports like Hondarribia, we arrive just a little over an hr. ahead of our flight. Are you staying in the Old Quarter? There should be taxis available at the taxi stand on the square at Alameda del Bulevar (near city hall) or always in front of the Hotel María Cristina. |
Hi Maribel.
Yes, that is the flight to Madrid. I will be staying at Hotel Niza. I don't know if that is in the Old Quarter. Is it nearby the taxi stand? Or would taxis be outside Hotel Niza too? Okay, so I will give myself just a little over an hour at the airport. Either way, sounds like I need to take a taxi over the bus. :) Thanks very much for your help. nycrani |
Hi nycrani,
The Niza is about 8 short blocks southwest of the taxi stands that are near city hall square. It's walkable unless you have a huge amount of luggage. Nice little hotel, BTW. Have a great time in my favorite city and enjoy the tapas (pintxos) in this great food town! |
nycrani,
Just checked my SS map. There's a taxi stand closer to the Niza, to the northeast about 5 blocks on the corner of Avenida de Libertad, near the Hotel Abba Londres hotel, before you reach city hall. |
Thanks very much Maribel. That is so helpful.
I am looking forward to visit your favourite city. :) I love your guides by the way and have printed them for my trip! nycrani |
Hi! there´s another taxi stand, closer to the Niza at Calle de Manterola. Check the map at:
http://callejero.lanetro.com/apps/la...=Guip%25FAzcoa the taxi stand is right on the red star. And as other posters said, the rate is around 25 euros. |
