San Sebastian to Cadaques

So I previously posted about my trip in September titled Road trip through Catalonia and Basque Country. At this point we have everything planned except 2 days in between San Sebastian and Cadaques. We have a rental car and just cannot decide which route to take to get to our destination. We know we won't have the most time for sightseeing along the drive, but would like to choose a scenic route and not miss any must sees on the way.
1) The shortest route would be approximately 6 hours and go up through France, which we had never planned on doing but were unaware that this would be shorter than the drive through Spain. We also don't know if this drive may have more sites along the way. (Also we will have already visited Bayonne during our 5 day stay in San Sebastian).
2) The next shortest route cuts through Pamplona to Zaragoza. We have interest in Pamplona, but don't know if there would be much else to see along this drive as this would be mostly main busy toll roads.

I was personally thinking of going through Spain, stopping in Pamplona and then going off the main road to somewhere like Huesca or Ainsa, and then continuing on towards Girona and Besalu for day 2. Is this a more scenic route?

Also where could we find a good stopping point for the night along these routes?

Thanks for any recommendations!

"We ... would like to ... not miss any must sees on the way."

Sorry, but that depends on your interests. Example: For me, the Vall de Boí was a primary reason to visit the area at all, and I don't see how you would meaningfully smash that into your available time. With only 2 days you WILL miss a LOT, but you have a ton of options and ONLY you can decide what is a must see or a can skip.

Do you have the Michelin Green Guide? I would think it invaluable to this kind of question....

Good luck!
