Cost of transfer between AMS & port?

I am considering a Viking River Cruise (VRC) in April 2013. VRC offers an airfare option with the cruise. The airfare is more than kayak or vayama BUT includes transfer from AMS to the ship. Would you please share your thoughts on buying airfare separate from the cruise and how much money would you budget to transfer between AMS and the port.

Thank you!

On Uniworld, you are offered the transfer to the river cruise dock even if you don't purchase the air from them. You might want to double check about Viking. Sorry that I can't give you information on the cost of a taxi

Kayak doesn't sell fares, they just list them.

Aleta, thanks for the question to ask VRC re: transfer to dock.

Yes, mztery, I know Kayak doesn't sell fares, poor use of langauge on my part.

Anyway, any other thoughts / info would be appreciated.

Depends a bit ofcourse which port the cruise is leaving from. There are three in Amsterdam: Ruyterkade, PTA terminal and Javakade.

By regular taxi: up to €60 (22 minutes)
By Schiphol taxi (private): €48
By Schiphol taxi (shared): €22
By train (Amsterdam central station is across Ruyterkade, you may have to walk a couple of km depending on the exact docking location): €4.50 (train takes 15 minutes). See https://onlineboeken2.nshispeed.nl/d...yraOffers.html . Note: prices will increase slightly per January 2013.

Schiphol taxi (shared) may wait up to half an hour before leaving and may take a detour to drop of other passengers. The private taxi will go directly. Both Schiphol taxi options must be booked in advance, see here for more information: http://www.schiphol.nl/Travellers/To...TravelTaxi.htm
