San Remo Day Trip from the French Riviera

Does it pay to take a day trip to San Remo from the French Riviera/ Cannes area? Is the shopping any better than France? Is anything
cheaper there to buy?

Well, I know after being in France
for three weeks last year, we drove
to San Remo and had our only
really great meal of the whole trip!
It was a small rest. right on the
waterfront. Shopping was good too.

A couple of my former classmates said they adored their 3-day weekend trip to San Remo & the residents were friendly & helpful, also.

Hi-was on cruise in Med 2 weeks ago and went to Italian and French Riviera--the lira is up to 2300 to the USD-better than it's been in 12 years--so people were buying like crazy in Italy.

Also St.Tropez was probably one of the greatest places to shop--400 shops amid tiny alleys and passageways--SEND ME BACK !

Loved Portofino-great shops there.

I don't know much about the town during the week but there is a great market on Saturday in San Remo which is not a long drive at all - about 30 miles on an autoroute. For more Paris information e-mail me [email protected]

I went there last summer, and my opinion San Remo is a great place to sunbathing - better than Nice! I stayed in a area with small beaches with white sand - I guess there was a bar-restaurant called "LIDO" with some nice/young italian bartenders, it was more relaxing and less expensive than Nice.
