San Quirico-Tuscany Which train station w/car return Chiusi or Poggibonsi?

I'm trying to work out an itinerary and would appreciate opinions if one station is preferable to another. We'll be returning a rental car. According to ViaMichelin the distance from San Q to Chiusi is 26 miles and will take 52 minutes. The train from there to Venice will be approx 5-5 1/2 hrs. The distance from San Q to Poggibonsi is 46 miles and will take about 70 min and the train is approx 4-4 1/2 hrs.

Is one station easier with a car return?...easier to find?

This isn't going to be much help but DH and I took a day trip to San Giminagno from Pisa and picked up a bus at Poggibonsi. It was on a Sunday and EVERYTHING was closed for lunch except restaurants.

With that in mind, you might check out the car rental hours/days so you don't get stuck. Chiusi is larger and might be your best bet. I'm not familiar with car rental returns so can't give specific help.

I already realize I will probably be returning the rental when the office is closed.

I've never returned in Poggibonsi. I have returned in Chuisi and it is an easy return. Have you checked on returning in Arrezo? Not sure, but it may be an option.

None of the above.
There is no return in Poggibonsi, and Chiusi is somewhat of a back track. Drive to Venice--takes the same time and saves you the hasssle of trains and schedules. Drop at Piazzale Roma---very easy.

My eyes are playing tricks on me...could have sworn I saw Poggibonsi listed in AutoEurope. Thanks Bob.

Bob - The departure to Venice is on Sunday, May 2...a holiday weekend. Would that change your mind about driving...or will more traffic be coming out? Did you by any chance see my other question?

I would sill drive. The alternative is just not fun. If you drive as far as Florence or Bologna to drop it, you still have to taxi to the stazione and then buy tickets and hope the schedule is favorable--on a crowded train. By that time you will be in Venice at Piazzale Roma.
