San Gimignano area B&B/Farm house

We are looking for a decent budget place to stay in Tuscany (below US $100/nite). After doing some search, San Gimignano area seems to be the winner, since we also want to do a day trip to Florence and after Tuscany plan to drive over CT for a couple of days.

So anyone got any suggesstion for a budget place around SG area with free car parking? I know SG doesn't allow cars inside the town. Thx

Hi rkumar3,
I rented a car in Firenze a couple of years ago and drove to this wonderful farm B&B named Fattoria Voltrona. I stayed there a week and spoked out in all directions each day. They serve a very nice breakfast and if you want to have dinner, they serve an excellent meal for 25 euros (that's what it was then). Go to [email protected] for more. I had a beautiful room that was ground level with jasmine in bloom reaching up both sides of the door. I think they fall into the price range you prefer and they are only 4km from SG. If I ever go back to this area, I am definitely staying there again. Good luck.

You may want to try Il Casale del Catone just outside town. Last year in Sept the rate for a double was 98 Euro. We, a family group of 17 stayed there and were very happy. Beautiful views, nice rooms, pool and nice owner.

Nice B&B 3 km south for 90E.

You are still 2 hours plus to the CT. Take my earlier advice and overnite.

Thanks for the suggestions.. I tried Voltrona yesterday and got a reply that they only have a "double room with two beds" available... i m sure my wife won't be thrilled about it

Bob... I do plan on staying 2 nites in CT AND not a day trip.
