Same old question
"I've been gone a couple of years and the questions are stilll the same".
I can't find the original post but have a thought. If in fact the questions are the same, it may mean that we have a whole new group of travelers and that is a very good thing. First time travelers all have the same uncertainities, at least I did. Lest we forget, it is a trip to a "foreign" country. If Fodors posters want more detailed info, I think it is up to us [we?] oldtimers to pose the questions that demand more "nuanced" [am I pc or what?] answers. Likewise, it is up to us to provide info on the places that don't appear in the popular travel guides. Here are my contributions: Lekeitio, between Bilbao and San Sebastian, an untouched fishing village. Luarca, on the north coast, a super coast town , known for percebes. Sepulveda, north of Segovia, home of Tinin el Major, the finest lamb in Spain , according to Juan Carlos, according to Penelope Casas. Put up or shut up. Don't make newcomers pry the info out of you. If you want to share your knowledge, share it, but don't blame new travelers for not asking what you consider to be the "right questions". |
Here's the thread you're talking about:
http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...-on-fodors.cfm As far as the people asking the "same questions", it doesn't necessarily mean they are all newbies. I have been around here for over 5 years, but of course, I haven't traveled to ALL the destinations in Europe. Earlier this week, I posted a question about purchasing train tickets from DB online. I know it's been covered here before, but I had a few specific concerns that I didn't think it had been asked in the past. |
yk beat me to it (by a minute)
http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...-on-fodors.cfm Not understanding you -- what's w/ the put up or shut up????? |
Weber meant that the poster who was complaining about "same old questions" should provide answers on the more unusual places listed above, or else shut up. (I was thinking along the same lines earlier and was about to challenge him to go tackle my still unanswered questions on Vichy and Moulins).

Weber I know this is not the point of yur post.,..but I know you are a very experienced Spain traveler & enjoy reading yours.
Along the same line as the towns you mentioned, can you add some towns you have enjoyed in Andalucia for me (especially within driving distance of Malaga?) By the way I agree the newbies should be welcomed and informed that such info is there to be perused. |
