Salzburg to Ljubljana?
I am planning a trip that takes me from Salzburg to Croatia and was planning on flying. But since Slovenia is right between the two I am interested in stopping in Ljubljana. I don't see any trains that go that route, any info on how I can accomplish this without renting a car? Any comments on Ljubljana?

Train EC 191 leaves Salzburg at 9:13 and arrives in Ljubljana at 13:52.
You did not say when you were going, therefore the schedule might change before you want to make the trip.
There are, however, several trains a day.
The schedule I gave above is the quickest.
I am curious. Where did you look for train schedule information? Rail Europe?

Several of the Eurpean National Rail Systems have web sites that contain timetable information. England, France, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria are the ones I know of.
The German site is fairly comprehensive.
Rail Europe is virtually useless in my opinion. About all I do there is check to see how inflated its prices are over the same ticket bought in Europe.

Unlike America, mainland Europe has an extensive, and usually reasonably-priced railway system. Most Europeans prefer to use the raiways rather than fly everywhere.
Yes, there are numerous trains Salzburg- Ljubljana, but you may have to change at the border (Villach).

Hi Cindy. I use 4 of the national systems depending on the information I am seeking. For your question I checked the Austrian site, but as near as I can tell it is in German. There may be an English version, but I have not yet found it. I use the Swiss site,
which is in 4 languages including English. It can be reached at www.sbb.ch. The German site seems to to me to be comprehensive for a large portion of Europe. It is in English, and I have had no trouble using it.
None of these sites will give you cost data if the train crosses an international border.
What in particular about the German site frustrated you?
I use this Url:
http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/detect.exe/bin/query.exe/e
and it takes me to a screen that is in English. The dialog boxes ask you to specificy the departure station, arrival station, date and time.
