Salzburg Salt Mine Tour

We will be staying in Inneralpbach, Austria for ten days in early June. We have taken the salt mine tour in Hallstat and thoroughly enjoyed it. We will be taking a family of 5 with us this year and will be limited in our travels. We hope to take the train one day to Salzburg. Can anyone give me some advice on how/where to take the salt mine tour in Salzburg once we arrive there. I haven't been able to find much about the tour itself. Many thanks.

If you are travelling by train, you need to go to Hallein, south of Salzburg.

I remember going to Hallein 40 years ago. (I was in my 20's) I thought it was a wonderful trip! I liked it better than the salt mine outside of Krakow, and I think kids would really get a kick out of the wooden slides down into the depths of the mountain. The boatride around the underground lake was like magic to me. Hope you can fit it into your trip.

I did the Hallein salt mine trip in 1970 and 1987. I thought it was better in 1970 with more slides.

I did the Hallstatt one in 1973 and thought the Hallein one better

Took the "Salzburg" salt mine tour in the mid-nineties while staying in that city of music, cream cakes and casinos. It was very interesting and, I thought, most worthwhile as an insight into how the other half lived and worked. It made a counterpoint to all that Mozart!
