Salzburg Cafe Winkler--is it open?
 

I had heard that this incredible-view restaurant had closed. Does anyone know whether this is true and, if so, whether it may open again soon?

Winklers, unfortunately, is out of business.

When I was there last May, a local gentleman told me that it closed and was being reopened as a museum. If my memory is correct, it was to have reopened by now.

I was a student at the Salzburger Tourismusschulen 12 yrs ago, my classmates and I frequented Cafe Winkler (as the Exec. Chef at the time was an instructor at the college). Anyway it was just a bit of a bomber to hear its closed..thats all (sniff)

Many have great memories of the Cafe Winkler.
This was as many remember adjacent to the Salzburg Casino - both with great altstadt views.
Unfortunately , the Casino moved to a Palace location just north of the city.

I think now the former location is the home to a Modern Art Museum.
